Saturday night I was totally jonesing for cupcakes. We called Magnolia, like twice, asking them if they deliver. I mean, this is New York, so it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibilities. Long story short, Magnolia is open until like 11:30pm on Sat. So at 11:15pm, we jump in a cab, head to the Village and get in line. In the evening, they have a doorman. It was hilarious. He’s like ‘Hi! Have you been here before? Okay, what you want to do, is get a piece of wax paper and choose a cupcake. Once you touch one, you’ve got to buy it. Have fun!’ When anyone is friendly like that in New York, I want to start chanting, ‘USA! USA! Goooooo, USA!’ There was this cute couple in front of us who had never been to Magnolia Bakery (I think they were on a date, adorable). Okay, it was Scott Adsit of 30 Rock on date (and she was gorgeous). We were all like kids, giggling over which cupcakes we wanted. That’s why I love New York. You literally get to be a kid in a candy shop, at any hour of the night.
